Kindergarten Manager Ms. Dong Ha joined Cohort 13 of the Kindiedays Academy. Here is what she experienced.
Why did you choose to participate in the Academy?
I have always longed for Vietnamese early childhood education to be more open—one that truly places the learner at the center of every activity. I hope teachers no longer have to strain themselves by framing both the questions and answers on behalf of the children, as is currently the practice in most schools across Vietnam. Knowing that Finnish education embodies the ideal approach I have been looking for, I decided to enroll in this course.
What did you learn in the Academy? / What impressed you the most? / What is useful for teachers & educational managers?
The course does not just guide teachers on how to organize daily activities; it explains why Finnish education successfully empowers children with the confidence to express their thoughts and feelings—something many Vietnamese educators are still struggling with. Alongside professional development, emotional education for children is always a top priority in Finland. Furthermore, children's "learning" happens very naturally and gently; they learn from every life situation and context rather than being confined to a desk to do worksheets. Most notably, children are the primary agents in exploring the world—they ask their own questions and work together to find answers using all their senses and skills, with teachers acting as facilitators.
The instructor (Ms. Stella) provided very detailed guidance and explanations for each topic and example. She was incredibly patient, engaging 1-on-1 with each participant to clarify their queries. With her practical experience in the Finnish early childhood education sector, her insights and answers are truly valuable and highly applicable to the Vietnamese context.
Does the Academy program help you on your career path?
For me personally, this course has shed light on many core philosophies of early childhood education, offering not just theory but genuine practical value. At the same time, it gives me greater confidence in the positive development and transformation of Vietnamese early childhood education in the near future—an education in which both teachers and students are happy, and students are truly at the center.
